If you are an eligible full time UK/home status student, you can apply to Student Finance England for a tuition fee loan.

Part time students

If you are an eligible part time UK /home status student starting your course in September 2012 or later you can apply to Student Finance England for a tuition fee loan of up to £9,250 per year.

You may also be eligible for a maintenance loan to assist with the cost of living while you study. If you are on a low income you may be eligible for additional financial support.

Self-funding students and international students

If you are not able to apply for the above funding and you feel you have extenuating circumstances that mean you will not be able to pay your fees, you need to contact our Recovery team on 0114 225 5668 or email salesledger@shu.ac.uk.

If tuition fees are not paid on time, and a formal extension is not agreed, you may be at risk of suspension/exclusion from your course; in these cases Finance Directorate would contact you to inform you of any action to be taken.

What if I can't pay my fees?

If you are not able to apply for any of the above funding and you feel you have extenuating circumstances that mean you will not be able to pay your fees, you need to request an extension (right).

Your request will be reviewed and you will receive a response from the Recovery Team letting you know the outcome.

If tuition fees are not paid on time, and a formal extension is not agreed, you may be at risk of suspension/exclusion from your course; in these cases Finance Directorate would contact you to inform you of any action to be taken.

Can I enrol if I owe money to the University?

If you are in debt to the University for any tuition fees, and have not already been withdrawn, you will not be allowed to enrol for the next academic year until the tuition fee debts are paid.
