What help is available?

Our student wellbeing team offers a range of support that you can access independently or through a Wellbeing Practitioner.

We recommend that you explore the wellbeing webpages to see what is available.

To speak to a practitioner and to access some kinds of support, you will need to register with the wellbeing team.

Community Support

Hallam students have access to Togetherall, an online community with 24–hour support from mental health professionals. Register using your university email address for access to courses, articles and support forums.

College Wellbeing Support

We have a well-being adviser based in each of our three colleges who can provide quick and easy access to 1:1 wellbeing appointments. Our college wellbeing advisers are qualified practitioners who can provide support for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low mood and stress. 

Registering with student wellbeing

The registration form will ask you about your welfare and the type of support you want.

After registering, you will be able to book a 50 minute session with a wellbeing practitioner. They will work with you to understand the support available and help you create an action plan.

Off campus support

You can still receive support when off campus.

Wellbeing appointments can be held remotely or by telephone. Choose your preferred method of contact from when you complete the wellbeing registration form.

Need a letter of support?

If you have attended one or more appointments with the wellbeing service, you can access the summary of the attendance record on the CRM portal.

If you need anything more specific, please contact the student wellbeing reception team via phone on 0114 225 2136 or e-mail student.wellbeing@shu.ac.uk. Please give as much detail as possible regarding the purpose of the letter you require and also indicate that you are giving consent to share this personal data with a third party.
