Some learning contracts give you the option defer or resit your exam should you feel you have been impacted/ will be impacted by your disability in your exam.
- You can decide if you want to defer your exam in advance of the exam. It is advised you discuss this with your Student Support Adviser (SSA). If possible, we encourage you to try and take the exam as you may want to accept your first attempt mark.
- If you wish to resit the exam because you feel that your exam performance was affected by your disability or you were not able to sit the exam, you must notify your SSA within 5 days of the exam. You can do this by emailing hallamhelp@shu.ac.uk and stating the email is for the attention of your SSA.
- Once your original exam results have been released, you must tell your Student Support Advisor (SSA) within 2 days of receiving your mark if you still plan to resit. You can do this by emailing hallamhelp@shu.ac.uk and stating the email is for the attention of your SSA.
- You may have performed better than you expected, and therefore you may not want to resit and keep your first mark.
- Your retake mark will be your final mark, even if it is lower than your first attempt.
